Dear Parishioners,
Technical Difficulties
We had technical difficulties during the rosary at 2 PM this afternoon. The video from the camera out to YouTube and GoToMeeting was slow. I suspect that the wireless access points I reinstalled this morning caused network traffic collisions of some kind. I'm sorry for the technical difficulties. I'll probably get new wireless access points. These old ones have been a thorn in my side.
Mass and Half Marathon
Tomorrow, Msgr. Rusconi will celebrate the 8 AM Mass. This will be the first time that I will be off campus during a livestreamed event.
I plan to race a half marathon at Cattus Island Park. It'll be a virtual race because of the coronavirus. I will offer the run for our parish and our nation. If I have technical difficulties, I'll just try again later this month or sometime in November. I've trained for just over six months. I have not yet peaked. But with some strategizing, I might just get a personal record.
My goal is to average 8:45 per mile and go under one hour and fifty five minutes for 13.11 miles. My average heart rate will likely be about 172. I've only run 13.11 miles or longer four times previously. My current personal record is 1:55:22 on November 14, 2018. It will be between 50 and 55 degrees while I'm running. That might be too warm.
Most of you don't need all these numbers. I just want to convey that God has given me certain gifts. With respect to running, I'm neither fast nor slow. Staying in good physical shape allows me to continue to serve as your parish priest in this strange time.
God love you,
Fr. Jim
