Dear Parishioners,
Papal Honeymoon Period
I'm pleasantly surprised to see quite a variety of people liking our new pope. While the honeymoon period will end, it's ok to enjoy it while it lasts. Above is a video of Pope Leo meeting with the best tennis player in the world, Jannik Sinner.
Theresa Civantos Barber writes about this and other things that kids might enjoy:
Pope Leo asked a French journalist to look into his French ancestry. See the store
here about our new pope's mixed ancestry. In his first week as pope, Leo quoted many. Courtney Mares reports:
Papal Inaugural Mass
On Sunday at 4 AM our time, Pope Leo will celebrate his inaugural Mass as pope. Daniel Esparza reports:
EWTN will begin coverage at 3 AM and show encores at 12 Noon and 6 PM. It's likely that Pope Leo will preach on important topics. Recall that Pope St. John Paul II proclaimed, "Do not be afraid!," at his inaugural Mass on October 22, 1978.
Intercessions
Let's continue praying for our new pope.
1) That Pope Leo will be an instrument of God to unite His people.
2) For peace in Ukraine and around the world.
3) For greater respect for all human life.
4) For peace and unity within the Church on Earth so that we might better proclaim Jesus to the world.
5) For our young people who will receive Holy Community for the first time on Sunday.
God love you,
Fr. Jim
