Dear Parishioners,
Joseph Martin’s “What Wondrous Hope”
St. John’s Church Adult Choir is thrilled to present “What Wonderous Hope”, a powerful cantata by Joseph Martin, on Sunday, May 4th at 3 PM. This stirring work blends traditional hymnody with contemporary worship music, telling the story of Christ’s ministry, passion, and resurrection through thought-provoking narration by Pamela Stewart. Featuring songs such as “Speak, O Lord,” “Hosanna,” “Behold the Lamb,” and “Mercy Tree,” this cantata creates an inspiring musical experience that resonates with both traditional and modern worship styles.
What to expect:
- A captivating performance of “What Wondrous Hope” by our talented Adult Choir.
- Beautiful narration that brings the story of Christ’s life and sacrifice to the forefront.
- A unique blend of traditional hymns and modern worship songs.
Refreshments will be served in the church hall following the performance, providing a wonderful opportunity for fellowship and community. Don’t miss this special concert that unites the themes of the season through music, offering a rich spiritual experience for all who attend.
St. John’s Church-Where Music Inspires Faith And Community
Choir
The choir has been rehearsing a great deal for the concert. I invite everyone to come. Above is the advertisement we've been running in the bulletin.
We're also inviting more parishioners to join the choir. Dave, our music director, and I were recently talking about how to accommodate more members. We've got ideas about how to upgrade the music room without doing construction.
Sr. Inah, RIP
The oldest person in the world died on Wednesday.
Pope Francis Prayer Card
Memorial cards for Pope Francis arrived yesterday. They're in the church and will soon be in the chapel. We ordered 1000. So, there are plenty.
State of the Church
The cardinals are discussing the needs of the Church on Earth and the characteristics desired in a new pope. Many lay people are offering their two cents. Here's one I like very much.

Intercessions
Instead of our usual five intentions, let's focus on just one regarding the conclave. Below is a prayer recommended by our Bishop.
God love you,
Fr. Jim
Prayer For the 2025 Conclave
O God, eternal shepherd,
who govern your flock with unfailing care,
send your Holy Spirit upon the Cardinals gathered in Conclave
and grant in your boundless fatherly love
a pastor for your One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church
who will please you by his holiness
and show us your watchful care.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever. Amen.
