Dear Parishioners,
Running Fools
Pictures and videos of me running reveal my foolishness. Running in the rain or cold or heat? That's foolish. Racing young people? Crazy.
April Fools' Day
The video above discusses a possible Catholic origin for Aprils Fools' Day. You can read more about two different dates for New Year's Day
here. Looking to prank someone, consider
5 April Fools’ Pranks for a Catholic Gentleman. I don't find satire satisfying, but Catholic Answers offered
this satire last April Fools' Day.
Fools for Christ
St. Paul reminds us:
Both Jesus and Paul called some people fools because they were foolish. They did so because they wanted the foolish people to become wise.
Around 1 Cor 4:10 St. Paul tells the Corinthians that he and those with him are fools for Christ. The world thinks we're crazy for following Jesus. So, let's be fools for Christ. That's far wiser than the foolishness of the world.
Mass Attendance
We're still tracking Mass attendance, but I haven't been reporting it to you. I'm trying to be mindful of trends and see how we can do better at St. John's. Every once in a while, I'll share the numbers. This past weekend, we surpassed 1,000 for the first time since Christmas. Let's invite even more people to become fools for Christ.
