Dear Parishioners,
Little Things
Getting back to something like normal includes so many little things. Here's a list of some little things at St. John's:
1) Tom is putting up the plastic racks for bulletins and pamphlets.
2) Tom upgraded the faucet in the candle room bathroom which is now available.
3) Charlie ordered missallettes which will hopefully arrive by the weekend.
4) The "Lost and Found" is under the table in the canopy entrance foyer.
5) Joe restored the prayer intention book in the candle room.
6) Joe is working on recruiting altar servers for this coming weekend.
7) I removed the orange cones by the canopy entrance. All the handicapped parking spaces are available.
8) I removed unnecessary signs on the outside doors of the church.
9) Our landscaper planted some red plants in the front of our church. He has been working on making our grounds more beautiful.
Knights of Columbus
Our three Knights of Columbus councils are merging as of July 1st. Last night, they elected new officers from all three councils for the one merged council. We had 30+ guys in attendance. I'm looking forward to working with our renewed, vibrant KC council. I moved the council banner and Blessed Michael McGivney picture back to the parish hall because there were too many guys to meet in the chapel.
St. Vincent de Paul Society
Tom has remodeled the old coffee room and his old office so that it is now a combined and enlarged SVDP foot pantry and office. The food pantry will receive a donation from Fulfill so that we can give some fresh food to those in need in addition to the non-perishables that you have been donating.
Bishop O'Connell
BISHOP O’CONNELL RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL
Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., was discharged from the hospital June 1 and expressed gratitude for the thoughts and prayers from the clergy, religious and faithful of the Diocese.
The Bishop was hospitalized May 28 after multiple blood clots were found. He will begin a lengthy regimen of medication at home for ongoing treatment of a medical condition while continuing his episcopal schedule.
He said he looks forward to ordaining a new priest for the Diocese on June 5.
Collection Basket
We still have to work on ushers and collection baskets. Currently, you can donate as you enter or exit the church. Should we go back to ushers taking up the collection and passing the basket? Below is a little survey question.
God love you,
Fr. Jim
